Gemotions

The phone vibrated relentlessly in her pocket, each buzz a fresh stab of worry. She’d been avoiding her friends since she saw the notice. They had all come to this school with so many dreams, and now... It was all so uncertain. She didn't want to talk about it, couldn't bring herself to face their shared devastation.

She sat on her bed, clutching a worn-out teddy bear. Her heart was hammering against her ribs. She felt the urge to pace, to run, to scream. The room, usually a haven, felt cramped and oppressive. The walls seemed to be closing in.

She stared at the textbooks piled on her desk, the symbol of her ambition, now just a reminder of shattered plans. A single tear traced a path down her cheek, followed by another. She pulled the covers over her head, the darkness offering a small, temporary respite.
