He discovered the list tucked inside the pages of her favorite book. Alex read, "Start a business." "Learn to play the piano." "Travel to Italy." A flush crept up his neck. He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead.

He sat down on the sofa, the list still in his hand. He kept replaying their conversations in his mind, searching for clues, for hints of these hidden dreams. His knuckles were white as he gripped the paper.
