Gemotions

The pounding was a drumbeat in Eleanor's chest. She found herself strangely captivated by the sight of the construction crew next door, the way they moved, the shouts and the laughter. She sat on her patio, ostensibly reading, but her eyes kept returning to the scene.

She felt a tingling in her fingers, a restlessness that she couldn't quite explain. The air smelled of sawdust and something else… something stimulating. She crossed her legs, a small action that felt remarkably intimate. She pulled the neck of her shirt slightly.

She took a long sip of her iced tea, though she wasn't actually thirsty. A flush began to climb her cheeks. She found herself holding her breath.
