"Honey, could you hand me the paint stripper?" Liam called, his voice rough. He’d been assisting his neighbor, Mark, all morning, and the physical exertion had left him feeling… alive.

He turned, the sun beating down on his back, and saw Mark, shirtless, flexing as he pried a stubborn piece of molding loose. Liam’s throat went dry. A current seemed to run through him.

"Sure thing," he croaked, his voice betraying his sudden breathlessness. He deliberately slowed his pace, enjoying the feel of the cool stripper can in his palm. He handed it over with a shy smile. The simple contact of their hands, however brief, sent a jolt of pleasure through him.
