Gemotions

The noise was relentless, but it no longer bothered him. In fact, it had the opposite effect. He found himself strangely…stimulated. The sight of the men working, the physicality of the labor, stirred something within him. He kept imagining their muscles flexing.

He abruptly stood and went into the kitchen. He poured a glass of cold water and drank it down in large gulps, the cool liquid a small comfort against his heat. He felt a strange tightening in his chest, a deep longing that he couldn’t articulate.

He ran his hand over his face, as though trying to smooth away a phantom pain.
