Gemotions

“No scholarship.” The words bounced around in Chloe’s head, mocking her. A tremor of heat began to spread through her, making her skin feel hypersensitive. She wanted to scream. Or, maybe, to laugh.

She bit her lip, then turned away from the laptop. She needed air, to get out of the claustrophobic confines of her tiny room. She began gathering her things with a sudden, frenetic energy.

She grabbed her keys and practically ran out the door. The cool night air hit her like a splash of cold water, yet did nothing to soothe the internal fire.
