Her perfume, a familiar scent of sandalwood and spice, hit Chloe the moment she turned and saw him. He was leaning against a pillar in the grand ballroom, a whiskey glass swirling in his hand. She felt the sudden flush creeping up her neck, a heat that had nothing to do with the summer evening.
