“Honey, dinner's ready!” Marco called from the kitchen. Sarah was sitting on the couch, lost in a book, but the words did nothing to stop the phone from ringing. She heard him pick it up in the other room. He began speaking in a hushed tone.

She closed the book, listening. A knot formed in her stomach. The warmth of the room seemed to intensify, pressing in on her. She found herself getting up, walking slowly towards the bedroom.
