"You were such a disaster," Leo said, his voice laced with amusement. He was recalling their first date, the embarrassing stumble, the spilled coffee, the awkward silences. I felt the heat rise up in my cheeks.

I remember thinking it was the worst date of my life. I had wanted the ground to swallow me whole. The memory made me wince, but now, sitting across from him in the crowded bistro, the feeling was different.

He smiled, and my pulse quickened. He reached across the table, his fingers brushing against mine as he pointed out something on the menu. A jolt shot through me. My skin felt electric.
