Gemotions

He had been gone all day, a work trip, so she wasn't expecting him so late. Opening the door and finding him standing there, a half-smile playing on his lips, already had her heart doing a little dance. Then he spoke, the low timbre of his voice laced with the unfamiliar sounds of her mother tongue. "Ik ben blij je te zien, schat." The words, though slightly flawed, were a revelation.

She stepped inside, pulling him in with her, inhaling the scent of his cologne. It was the same cologne she had given him, but now it seemed different, enhanced. He ran a hand through his hair, and the way his fingers lingered there made her want to reach out.

"Where did you…?" she started, her voice catching. He just looked at her, and she felt a heat rising in her chest. She reached out and touched his cheek, tracing the lines around his eye. He was still speaking, but she'd stopped listening to the words. The way the foreign syllables wrapped around his voice was pure poetry, and it made her want to run her fingers through his hair and kiss him senseless.
