The musty scent of aged paper and leather filled Elara’s nostrils as she flipped through the pages of the Victorian novel. A bookstore, half-lit and overflowing with forgotten stories, was her sanctuary. The cool, quiet air seemed to press against her skin, making the hairs on her arms stand on end.

Her fingertips traced the embossed gold lettering of the cover. Beneath her fingers, a folded piece of paper emerged. She unfolded it slowly, the delicate paper cracking slightly.
