She was in the library, pretending to study. Her teacher, Mr. Davies, had just followed her. She quickly shut her laptop and leaned back in her chair. The low hum of the fluorescent lights suddenly sounded loud, almost aggressive.

She felt a strange warmth spread through her. Her fingers tapped a nervous rhythm on the table. She ran a hand through her hair, and her pulse quickened. He probably didn't even notice her. He definitely didn't see her as anything more than a student.

She found herself biting her lip, a habit she usually tried to avoid. She could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks. She was going to get a detention soon for not doing her work if she kept this up. Still, she couldn't stop imagining the way his voice sounded.
