The letter was a surprise. Found among his father's possessions after his death, it was a letter to his mother, detailing his father's young feelings for her. He re-read the passages describing his father's admiration, his unspoken desires. His vision was clouded.

He ran a hand across his jaw, a strange heat flooding his body. He imagined the quiet intimacy, the stolen glances. A pulse began to throb in his temple, and he looked for a place to sit. He felt the stirrings of a sensation he knew was not grief.

He felt a pull in his core, a growing need for action, for release. He crumpled the letter in his hands. He stood up. He left the room.
