She tapped furiously at her phone, the dim light of the bedroom illuminating her face. Her breathing quickened as she typed, imagining the recipient’s reaction. "Can’t stop thinking about you. Need you now." She hit send and immediately regretted it. The text had gone to her boss, Mr. Henderson, instead of her lover. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic rhythm against the sudden silence.

She gasped, her fingers flying to her mouth. The blood rushed to her cheeks, making them burn. She felt a tremor run through her, a wave of heat washing over her. She imagined Mr. Henderson's expression, his usual stern face softening with… something. She could feel a strange tightening, an unfamiliar restlessness. The room suddenly felt very small, very warm, and she dropped her phone on the bed, her breath catching in her throat.
