Gemotions

The stale air in the elevator was getting to Chloe. She could feel a flush creeping up her neck, a prickling sensation that started low in her belly. Mark, her project lead, was leaning against the wall opposite her, his tie loosened, a sheen of perspiration on his forehead.

"So, about those budget projections," Mark began, his voice sounding different. Deeper, somehow. Chloe found herself unable to meet his gaze. She focused instead on the emergency panel, tracing the outline of the call button with her fingertip.

"Yeah, about those," she echoed, her voice sounding breathy even to her own ears. The small space seemed to shrink, closing in on them. She felt a need to be closer, to test the heat between them.
