Gemotions

She had been working in her garden. The scream of the wind turned into a terrible boom. The ash tree, a towering sentinel on the edge of the property, was gone. She felt a tightening in her stomach, a sensation she couldn't explain.

She stood rooted to the spot, staring at the debris. She needed to see it, to touch it. She walked toward the fallen tree. It was the only thought she had.

She needed to understand the force that had caused so much destruction. The clean-up, the shared grief, the opportunity to be close to someone who was also affected.
