Gemotions

The world seemed to spin for a moment. Mark's legs felt unsteady, and he had to grip the nearest fence post for balance. He felt a peculiar lightness in his head, a sense of unreality. A wave of heat washed over him, leaving him flushed and breathless. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tangling in the strands.

He imagined the way the sun used to filter through the leaves. He pictured the sound of wind in the branches. The sudden absence created a painful hollowness. A strange tightening started deep within him, accompanied by a tingling, restless energy. He needed to be alone. He took a few unsteady steps away, then abruptly changed direction, walking quickly towards the woods.
