His gaze narrowed, the muscles in his jaw clenching involuntarily. The violation of the tree felt like a personal affront. He felt a deep, resonating thrumming in his chest, a physical manifestation of his simmering anger. The air seemed to crackle with an unseen energy, and he felt a growing tension in his limbs.

He took a step forward, then another, drawn towards the scene of destruction. He stopped before the raw stump, the scent of fresh-cut wood filling his nostrils. The scent triggered a physical response; a tightening low in his belly. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribs, and the world narrowed to this single, exposed space.
