The spreadsheet shimmered under the fluorescent lights, mocking him. He’d poured weeks into this, the perfect algorithm for predicting market fluctuations. And now, across the table, she gestured at her laptop screen, a mirror image staring back at him. A warmth blossomed in his chest, a strange tension pulling at his groin. He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly acutely aware of the prickling heat on his scalp.

"Incredible," she breathed, her voice a low hum. Her eyes, dark and intense, met his. He felt his throat tighten.

He leaned forward, closer to the screen, closer to her. The scent of her perfume, a delicate floral, filled his senses. His fingers twitched, itching to reach out and touch something, anything. The project, their shared passion, was suddenly secondary to the raw, unspoken connection sparking between them.

He cleared his throat, the sound rough and unfamiliar. "The… the methodology… it's almost identical." His voice cracked slightly. A blush crept up her neck, mirroring his own rising heat.
