Gemotions

The roses were red, crimson. They came with no note, only a cryptic message attached to the delivery: “Open me when the sun has set.” The anticipation was almost unbearable.

He waited, the hours dragging. He looked at the roses again and again. He did not open them. As the light started to fade, he found himself restless and unable to focus.

The sun dipped below the horizon, and he finally opened the box. The scent of the roses filled the room, and he inhaled deeply.

He moved to the mirror, looking at himself. He felt a powerful mixture of both fear and excitement, the darkness outside mirroring the darkness that had risen within him.
