The lilies arrived while she was baking, the scent of vanilla and baking bread colliding with the intoxicating fragrance of the flowers. There was no card, only their scent. She knew them.

She glanced at the flowers, then at the ingredients scattered across the counter, and her focus became intense. She turned up the music, the bass thumping in her chest.
