He came home to a single, perfect gardenia lying on his pillow. No card. The gesture was both subtle and incredibly provocative.

He picked up the flower, bringing it to his nose, and inhaled its heavy, intoxicating fragrance. He felt a deep, instinctive response.

He removed his tie, then his shirt, tossing them onto the floor. He walked to the window and looked out at the city, the lights blurring in the distance.

He felt alone, yet completely connected. The gardenia, the feeling, the city. All his senses were engaged.
