He stared at the yellowed paper, his breath catching in his throat. It was tucked inside her favorite book, a dog-eared copy of *Pride and Prejudice*. *Ride a horse naked on the beach* was scrawled at the top, followed by a list of less scandalous desires. Michael felt a sudden pressure build, a strange sort of fullness within him. He leaned against the counter, the kitchen suddenly feeling much too warm.

He pictured Amelia, her fiery red hair cascading down her back, the curve of her body exposed to the elements. His fingers tightened on the edge of the paper, tracing the ink of her handwriting. He wanted to see her. He wanted to feel her.

The image of her astride a powerful stallion, the wind whipping through her hair, was intoxicating. He closed his eyes, the scent of her perfume, still lingering in the air, intensified in his mind. He needed her touch. He needed her near.
