He paced his cramped living room, the flyer's pronouncements echoing in his head. "Luxury living," it had declared, "Invest in your future." Liam’s breath hitched. He felt his pulse quicken, a frantic drumbeat against his ribs. The worn couch suddenly seemed too close, the air thick and heavy.

He ran his fingers over the stubble on his chin, a restless gesture he didn't even notice. He felt a need to move, to be in action. He grabbed his keys. The gym, that was it.
