Gemotions

The email arrived like a punch to the gut: "Condominium Conversion." Sarah felt a jolt, a sudden tightening in her chest. She reread the words, the impersonal language grating on her ears. Her hands were unsteady as she clicked through the attachments.

She abruptly stood, her chair scraping across the wood floor. Her gaze went to the window, the city lights a distant blur. A flush crept up her neck, and she felt a sharp, almost painful, awareness of her own body.

She needed to get out, to escape the confines of her apartment. Grabbing her coat, she slammed the door and descended the stairs two at a time. The cool night air promised some relief.
