The track loomed before her, a vast expanse of empty concrete. She used to find comfort in the rhythm of her footsteps, the feel of the wind in her hair. Today, however, everything felt different. The sun beat down, a harsh spotlight on her perceived shortcomings.

Her teammates passed her on the road as she trudged in the opposite direction, their cheers echoing in the distance. She quickened her pace, desperate to avoid any interaction.
