Gemotions

The request arrived just as the phone rang. "Hello?" he answered, his voice unsteady. It was his mother. He abruptly cut the call short. He looked at the request, "Samantha Jones." She was everything he'd been embarrassed of, the girl he'd made fun of.

He sat for several minutes, paralyzed. He felt like a boy again, trapped in his childhood bedroom. He needed to run. He felt the phantom pressure of her laughter, the sting of her words. He needed to be anywhere but where he was.

His palms were suddenly sweating. He got up and walked around the living room, trying to find some form of peace. He decided to watch a movie. He could not concentrate.
