The attic was a labyrinth of forgotten treasures and discarded memories. Sunlight streamed through a crack in the boarded-up window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah had been searching for her grandmother's old recipe box. Instead, she had found a hidden diary within the pages of "The Secret Garden."

The diary chronicled a life of secrets, of betrayals she never would have expected. Her stomach clenched. A wave of nausea washed over her.

She had to leave this place. She stumbled back, knocking over a stack of old photo albums. The floorboards groaned beneath her weight. She could no longer bear to be in that place.
