He found the account on his son, Alex’s, computer. The screen showed Alex in situations he was supposed to be at school. He saw a different Alex; a boy skipping class, drinking with his friends, living a life his father didn't know. He felt a cold rush, a sudden chill that seemed to seep into his bones.

He sat down heavily on the bed, the mattress creaking under his weight. He didn't know what to do. The world suddenly felt out of focus, the colors blurred. He felt an urge to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn’t come. He sat there, paralyzed, the image of his son's hidden life playing in his mind.

He went to his own room, closing the door behind him. He wanted to sleep for a thousand years.
