The bus creaked to a halt outside the venue. He took a deep breath. He didn’t want to be here. Not for this. The poster outside screamed the name, "The Rising Suns". Below that, in much smaller letters, the name of his song. "Lost in the City Lights."

He shuffled through the doors, blending into the crowd. They were all young, vibrant, and enthusiastic. The music started. The music was his.

The singer, a teenager, was energetic and enthusiastic. The performance was flawless, technically. But when he hit the chorus, the hollowness inside him grew. He wanted to shout: "You don't understand." It was like a portrait of a stranger staring back at him. He slipped out into the night, unseen.
