Gemotions

The photos were tucked into a cookbook, stained with what looked like coffee and something sweet. The woman in the pictures was her mother, decades younger, vibrant, and kissing a man who wasn't her father. Sarah’s hands trembled as she flipped through the images. The carefully constructed narrative of a perfect, if somewhat dull, marriage crumbled before her eyes. The pleasant warmth of the kitchen, usually a comfort, turned oppressive. She quickly closed the book, wanting to get away from the evidence.
