The listing popped up while she was supposed to be working. A clean, bright photo, showcasing the freshly painted clapboard and manicured lawn. Her stomach clenched. It was the house. The one she’d vowed to never think about again.

She clicked through the photos, each one a fresh assault. The living room, transformed into a pristine, neutral space. The kitchen, once the scene of burnt dinners and whispered arguments, now gleaming with stainless steel. She rapidly scrolled, her fingertip a blur across the screen.

Her fingers trembled as she pulled the listing up again, then closed the window. Back to work. She took a deep breath. She wouldn’t look again. This was a place she should forget, and she wanted nothing to do with it.
