Gemotions

The grade was handwritten in red ink on the test, a glaring F. The world seemed to shrink around John. He felt the blood rush to his face. He'd poured his heart and soul into studying for this exam. He felt a deep sense of inadequacy.

He sat for a long time at his desk, staring out the window, his mind a whirlwind of confusion. When he finally looked up, his reflection was a stranger. He didn’t want to go to football practice. He just wanted to be alone. He pulled the covers over his head and waited for the day to end.
