Gemotions

The bus rumbled along, packed with commuters. Sarah watched the city blur past, the familiar landscape suddenly feeling alien. It was the weekly injection that had brought her here, where she had seen him.

She saw him at the back of the bus, hunched over, his hands covering his face. She recognized the posture, the way he was trying to hide. Their eyes met for a fleeting moment, and a look of desperation flashed across his face.

The bus screeched to a halt, the doors hissing open. Sarah found herself unable to move, frozen in place. He stood, and headed for the doors, stopping in front of her. His only comment was to politely ask, “You, too?” She nodded, and he was gone.
