Michael felt a cold sweat prickle his skin. He stood outside David's "office," a dilapidated warehouse, which was a marked contrast to the sprawling penthouse advertised on David's business cards. *'David Chen, CEO, Innovative Solutions.'* He'd always known David had a flair for the dramatic, but this was beyond anything he could have imagined.

The door creaked open, and David emerged, his usual rumpled appearance now replaced with a crisp suit. He caught sight of Michael and stopped, his face going pale. "Michael? What are you doing here?" His voice cracked, a flicker of something close to terror in his eyes.
