She’d always wanted to be a writer, and now here she was being accused of plagiarism, when, in fact, it was her work that had been stolen. The blood seemed to drain from her face, leaving her feeling light-headed and fragile.

She leaned heavily against the wooden conference table, her legs threatening to buckle. Her carefully constructed world, built on years of study and dedication, felt as if it was crumbling around her. She felt a deep, piercing stab of betrayal, as if she had lost something vital. She didn't know how to proceed.
