He stared at the newspaper clipping, his hands trembling so violently he could barely hold it. The headline blared, "Local Hero Saves Puppies from Fire!" The story was all too familiar; he'd written it. He'd even taken the pictures. But the name printed underneath it wasn't his. It was someone he'd never even met.

He sank into a chair, the room spinning. He felt a hot, angry flush rise up his neck, burning his face. He clenched his fists, knuckles white. His carefully constructed life, the one he had worked so hard to build, suddenly seemed fragile, threatened, completely unfair. He felt as if he was drowning.
