It was the annual family holiday, and Liam was tasked with retrieving the decorations from the attic. He hated the dust, the cramped space, and the general feeling of being entombed. He was about to give up when he found a box he didn't recognize. Within it was a letter. The handwriting belonged to his brother, who had died a decade ago.

The letter was addressed to their parents, a letter of thanks for everything they had done. Liam, his throat suddenly tight, sat down amid the Christmas ornaments, clutching the letter. The words described moments he had forgotten, details of their childhood he'd lost. He blinked back tears, struggling for a breath. His brother's spirit seemed to fill the attic.
