The crisp white envelope felt alien in Amelia's calloused hands. A letter. After fifteen years. Her name, penned in a familiar, yet distant, cursive. She slowly peeled back the flap, her fingers trembling slightly. The paper within was thin, yellowed with age. As she read the words, a strange prickling sensation crawled up her arms. Her breath hitched. She sank into the worn armchair, the letter clutched tight in her hand as if it might disappear. "Unbelievable," she whispered, the sound barely audible.
