Gemotions

A wave of heat flushed through Mr. Henderson’s face. He nearly dropped his coffee mug when he saw the delivery man at his door. The man was holding a bouquet of exotic flowers taller than he was. His eyes widened. He signed for the delivery, his pen wobbling.

"For Mr. Henderson?" the delivery man had asked.

The sheer profusion of blooms, the vibrancy of their colors, the accompanying card… all pointed to a student he barely remembered, Sarah. She had been quiet, unassuming. The card read, "Thank you for believing in me." He re-read the card, a strange, hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach.
