The email arrived late at night, a single attachment labeled, "My Gratitude." Mr. Evans clicked it open, a sense of unease creeping up his spine. He recognized the sender's name: Lisa, a student he’d always thought was… well, a lost cause. He quickly scrolled through the first few pages and the color drained from his face.

It was a complete manuscript, a novel. Her novel. He'd always told her she had a gift, and she’d never seemed to believe it. He reread her letter, his hands trembling slightly, as he read of how he inspired her.
