Rain lashed against the window as Evelyn read. Her jaw worked silently. The story, "The Collector's Companion," was about her – her habits, her fears, her obsessions with vintage teacups. The protagonist’s descriptions mirrored her own; the way she chewed on her lip when she was thinking, the quirky way she arranged her library, the nightmares she battled. She slammed the book closed, the sound echoing in the silent room. Her hands began to shake uncontrollably. How long? How much of her life had he been observing, cataloging?
