Gemotions

The air left Liam's lungs as he read the email. He'd been looking at apartments to buy, but figured he had plenty of time. Now this. He sat there, utterly motionless, his fingers still hovering over the mouse.

He stared at the screen, the cursor blinking mockingly. The room, usually bathed in the soft glow of his laptop, was now suddenly cast in harsh light. The familiar sounds of the city outside his window seemed to amplify.

"What…" he muttered, his voice trailing off. His breath hitched in his chest. He felt as though the floor had suddenly dropped out from under him. He leaned back in his chair, feeling dizzy.
