The harsh fluorescent lights of the tattoo parlor seemed to buzz in his ears. David, the artist, gestured towards the client. He felt a constriction in his throat. There, on the woman's back, was "Celestial Dance," his most ambitious piece, brought to life in stark, permanent black ink.

His usual cynicism vanished. He stared, completely captivated. The swirling nebulae, the dancing figures – it was all there, rendered with a fidelity that made him gasp.

He cleared his throat. "That's..." He trailed off, unable to articulate his thoughts. The details were astounding. The way the ink caught the light, the subtle gradations of shading... He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers suddenly clumsy.

The woman turned, a shy smile gracing her lips. "I love your work," she said softly. He felt a sudden, inexplicable heat in his cheeks.
