The announcement hit him like a physical blow. His wife, his anchor, was embracing a faith from a distant land. His vision blurred, and he felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. The air suddenly felt too thin to breathe.

He gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles white. Her words, so calm and assured, seemed to echo in his ears. He looked around the room, at the familiar objects, the photographs, the family heirlooms. They all looked unfamiliar, changed.

He felt a powerful pull, a magnetic force drawing him in. He had never felt this before. He was lost, and yet, completely fascinated.
