Clara stared. Little Lily, her six-year-old niece, had been drawing again, and this time, it was…him. Barnaby. The lanky, mismatched-sock-wearing rabbit who’d been Clara’s constant companion until she was ten. He sat there, rendered in crayon, a lopsided grin plastered across his face. Clara felt a jolt, a current that ran from the top of her head to her toes. She reached out a hesitant finger, tracing the familiar shape. “Lily, who’s this?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper. Lily looked up, her blue eyes bright with innocent certainty. “That’s Mr. Snugglehops! He plays with me in the garden.”
