It was a small, unassuming apartment. Cozy, even. But as David examined the framed photograph on the mantelpiece, a cold dread began to creep through him. It was a picture of a couple – him, and… her. The woman he'd been seeing, the one who was also seeing… him.

He felt the blood drain from his face, leaving him pale and unsteady. His head swam. A strange buzzing filled his ears. His breath hitched in his throat.

His carefully constructed world had fractured, splintering into a million pieces. He reached out to touch the photo, tracing the outline of her smiling face, his fingers trembling. His legs felt weak. He couldn't quite believe what his eyes were showing him.
