The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the room as Michael watched Daniel put the journal down. Everything about the scene felt surreal, distorted. The journal, the secrets within, the knowledge of his roommate now possessing them. His breath hitched.

He had poured so much of himself into those pages. The hurt, the hopes, the anxieties. Now it was all… out. Daniel was staring at the wall, face set in a hard concentration.
