Gemotions

"He's here," I breathed, my voice barely audible. It was the enormous Great Dane, Max, and he was sprawled luxuriously on my freshly mown lawn. I had been working on the lawn all morning.

My usual anger simmered, then immediately fizzled out. I’d seen him before, of course, but now, he seemed… different. His size was colossal, and his presence took my breath away.

I felt a peculiar lightness in my head, a sense of quiet marvel. He was completely at peace. I noticed the way the sun dappled his coat, creating shifting patterns of light and shadow. I couldn't move. He became the entire focus of my world.
