"No, no, and a thousand times no, Alex," protested Finn. "We share a cramped apartment; there’s no room for a bird." Now, however, Finn’s voice caught in his throat. He stared at the parakeet, a tiny jewel of green and blue, hopping excitedly around its cage. Its cheerful chirps filled the room, a vibrant counterpoint to the city's din. Finn found himself captivated by the miniature spectacle. His usual cynicism vanished, replaced by an unfamiliar lightness. He forgot his anxieties, lost in the bird’s simple joy.
